What is the true meaning of being educated. What is the difference between being educated and being literate?

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

Education helps us to explore our own thoughts and ideas and makes it able to express in different forms. The truly educated person knows to treat everyone in a well manner.

Literate means those people who can read and write papers. True educated is beyond earning degrees; it is more than bookish knowledge. Education means moral values, positive thinking, attitude of helping and attitude of giving to society. The most educated person is one who is capable to translate educational theory into practical deeds.

Generally people think that those who have degrees from great institutions are essentially educated but it is not true always. If you have no manner, no respect to others, so much ego and anger, no feeling of responsibility to our society then you are just literate not educated.

When we pass out from any school or University we don’t just have only degrees in our hand but we should also come out from there as being educated. Being educated truly makes overall development in an individual. Every literate person must gain the knowledge and strive hard to become an educated person. Education is very important in every person’s life, degrees are important and becoming a better person in the society is most important. Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose and many more of such great individuals were truly not only literate but they were actually educated.
