Students are assessed in two areas in C.B.S.E.:
Scholastic: Scholastic areas make the student to focus on their academics. English, Hindi, Science, Social Science, Maths are the main subjects that are taught to them.
Co-scholastic: Co-scholastic area includes other activities such as games, sports, art & craft, music, yoga, etc which are essential for the co-curricular development of a student. These are added to make students healthy and fit as it leads to better learning.
The academic year of the Scholastic areas is divided into two terms which are Term 1 and Term 2. Each term will have periodic tests as well as Half Yearly(Term I)/ Annual (Term –II) examination.

Co-Scholastic Activities (Classes VI-VIII):
For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas be carried out in CBSE affiliated schools by the teachers and will be graded term-wise on a 3-point grading scale (A=Outstanding, B=Very Good and C=Fair). The aspect of regularity, sincere participation, output and teamwork be the generic criteria for grading in the following co-scholastic activities:
(a) Work Education – Work Education refers to skill-based activities resulting in goods
or services useful to the community
(b) Art Education (Visual & Performing Art)
(c) Health and Physical Education (Sports/Yoga/NCC etc.)
Discipline (Classes VI-VIII): The students will also be assessed for the discipline
which will be based on the factors like attendance, sincerity, behaviour, values, tidiness, respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitude towards society, nation and others.
Grading on Discipline will be done term-wise on a 3-point grading scale (A=Outstanding, B=Very Good and C=Fair)

The CBSE exam pattern has been divided into six parts which comprises of
two Monthly Assessments (Monthly Assessment – 1 & Monthly Assessment – 2),
two Periodic Assessments (Periodic Assessment – 1 & Periodic Assessment – 2)
along with Half Yearly Exam and Annual Exam.
